The direct answer
As of 2026, Stripe lists availability in more than 50 countries and regions. Pakistan is not one of them, and it does not appear on the preview list either — unlike India and Indonesia, which Stripe marks as preview markets.
In practice that means three things. You cannot complete Stripe onboarding with a Pakistani registered business. You cannot settle Stripe payouts to a Pakistani bank account. And there is no published timeline for Pakistan being added.
You can verify this yourself at any time on Stripe global availability — it is the authoritative list, and it is the first thing to check before believing any blog or video that claims otherwise.
Why Pakistan is not supported
Stripe has never published a country-by-country explanation, so anyone claiming to know the exact reason is guessing. What can be said accurately is what a payment processor generally needs before it can launch in a market:
- A local acquiring relationship, or a bank partner willing to sponsor card acquiring in-country.
- Regulatory authorisation — in Pakistan, operating under the State Bank of Pakistan framework.
- Local settlement into PKR accounts, plus the reporting that comes with it.
- Compliance coverage for local KYC, AML and foreign-exchange rules.
- Enough addressable volume to justify building all of the above.
None of that is unique to Pakistan — it is why most global processors cover a few dozen markets rather than two hundred. It is also why the practical answer for a Pakistani business is a provider that already holds those local relationships.
What about the workarounds you have seen on YouTube?
Search for Stripe and Pakistan and you will find videos and blogs explaining how to open an account through a US LLC or a UK limited company. That route genuinely exists, and a third-party technology tracker currently lists several hundred Pakistani websites running Stripe — almost all of them through a foreign entity.
It is not a loophole in the sense of being free money, though. Stripe requires the account to reflect a real business in a supported country, and accounts that do not hold up to review get restricted, sometimes with funds held. On top of that you take on foreign incorporation costs, annual filings, and Pakistani tax and foreign-exchange obligations on money you bring home.
We cover that route honestly — including where it works and where it goes wrong — in opening a Stripe account from Pakistan.
What Pakistani businesses use instead
If you are selling to customers inside Pakistan, a local gateway is not a downgrade from Stripe — it is the only thing that actually accepts how Pakistanis pay. Stripe would not give you JazzCash, easypaisa or Raast even if it launched here tomorrow without local rails.
| What you need | Stripe | A local gateway |
|---|---|---|
| Pakistani business registration | Not accepted | Standard |
| Settlement to a PKR bank account | Not supported | T+1 typical |
| JazzCash / easypaisa wallets | No | Yes |
| Raast and Raast QR | No | Yes |
| Local cards (incl. PayPak) | No | Yes |
| Support in your timezone | No local team | Local team |
Rapid Gateway is a Pakistani payment gateway operating under the State Bank of Pakistan framework. One integration covers cards, Raast and Raast QR, JazzCash and easypaisa wallets, bank transfer and USDT, with published pricing of 2 percent on wallets and 2.5 percent on cards and T+1 settlement to your local bank account. Frequently asked questions
Is Stripe coming to Pakistan?
There is no announced plan or timeline. Stripe has not listed Pakistan as a preview market, which is the stage a country normally passes through before launch. Treat any specific launch date you read online as unverified unless it appears on Stripe official availability page.
Can I use Stripe with a Payoneer account?
Payoneer can provide receiving accounts in some supported countries, and people do attempt to pair them with Stripe. This does not change Stripe requirement that the business itself be based in a supported country, so it does not make a Pakistan-based business eligible.
Is PayPal available in Pakistan?
PayPal does not offer a standard merchant account for Pakistan-based businesses either. This is why the practical question for most Pakistani sellers is not Stripe versus PayPal, but which local gateway to use for domestic customers and which remittance route to use for foreign clients.
Can I accept international cards without Stripe?
Yes. A local gateway with Visa and Mastercard acquiring can accept internationally issued cards, with settlement in PKR to your local account. What it does not do is hold a foreign-currency balance for you the way a foreign Stripe account would.
The bottom line
Stripe is not available in Pakistan, and pretending otherwise costs businesses real money in incorporation fees and frozen balances. If your customers are in Pakistan, use a gateway built for Pakistani rails. Create a Rapid Gateway account or talk to our team about your setup.
